"A Loose Confederation" (Chp. 7.1)

Objectives for Today
  • You will be able to define "constitution."
  • You will be able to explain why state governments wrote constitutions.
  • You will be able to list the weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation.
  • You will be able to discuss why many americans called for changes in the Articles.
Agenda for Today
  1. You will have your timeline project out on your desk to be checked by Mr. Duncan.
  2. Mr. Duncan will choose and display the timeline poster boards.
  3. You will work with a partner to answer the four objectives for today. The first 4 partner groups to get the correct answers will each get a 100 for today. The next 4 will each get a 92 for today. The last partner groups to get the correct answers will each get an 84 for today. If you do not get the correct answers, you will each get somewhere between a 0 and an 80.

Objectives for Today
  • Understand and recognize characters' traits.
  • Determine characters' motivation and feelings based on clues in the text.
  • Understand characters' relationships.
  • Analyze interactions between main and subordinate characters.
  • Make inferences based on characters' words, actions, and reactions to other characters.
Agenda for Today
  1. You will write a short character sketch of one of the following famous characters: "Goldilocks", "The big Bad Wolf", or "Pinnochio."
  2. Mr. Duncan will lead a shared reading exercise on understanding characters.
