HISTORY CLASS
"The Colonies Declare Independence" (Chapter 6.2)

Objectives for Today
  • Discuss the impact of Common Sense.
  • List the steps Congress took to declare independence.
  • Explain the main ideas of the Declaration of Independence.

Agenda for Today

  1. You will think about what this statement means "We have it in our power to begin the world over again," and write down what you think it means.
  2. We will watch a short video clip on the declaration of independence.
  3. You will take notes as Mr. D lectures on chapter 6.2.
  4. You will be allowed time to work on the key terms and guided reading worksheet from section 3. (If this is not finished in class, it will be homework.)

READING CLASS

"Readers' Workshop"

Objectives for Today

  • You will work on practicing your core reading skills independently.
  • Mr. D will help small groups with their core reading skills.

Agenda for Today

  1. Mr. Duncan will do a read aloud and you will write short response in your folder.
  2. You will have several choices to choose from to work on independently at your desk.
  3. Mr. Duncan will call several students over to the readers' workshop table to work on core reading skills.
