"The Declaration of Independence"
Objectives for Today
- Describe the reasons that the colonists gave for wanting to break with Britain.
- Identify the purpose and main ideas of the Declaration of Independence.
Agenda for Today
- You will write a one paragraph Declaration of _______________. You choose what you'd like to declare (i.e. "make known", "announce") to the class or your parents or your girl/boyfriend, etc. Be creative with your declaration.
- You will work on a chart that defines each line of the "Natural Rights" portion of the Declaration of Independence.
- You will then work with a partner on two charts: one that will translate the Declaration of Independence into your every day langauge and one that will outline whether or not you think the Declatation of Independence has been successful.
- TEST ON CHP. 6.1-2 TOMORROW!
